Natural skin care creams. Are there good reasons to consider using a natural skin care cream, and what exactly does "natural" mean anyway?

Last question first. What does natural mean when you use it in a skin care context? There is no really one single answer. No clear definition of what natural skin care really is. Despite the fact that there are many natural anti aging skin care creams and other products on the market.

What, for example, is the difference between natural skin care and organic skin care? How about herbal skin care? How about botanical skin care?

There is no single definition of natural when applied to skin care products, but despite this it still has a meaning. Just not a formalized meaning.

So I tend to use my own definition when asked this question. But to formulate your own definition I need to first consider why people would want to use a natural skin care product. Why would they buy these over "ordinary" mainstream skin care products?

There's a simple answer. Most of the big name skin care products that you see on the shelves have one or more, often many, synthetic chemicals that some scientist somewhere has found performs a function. Some of them are found no where in nature.

One of the reasons for this is that it is often much cheaper to manufacture chemical ingredients than it is to take ingredients from nature.

Lets take Parabens. A class of chemicals used as a preservative. They are very cheap to manufacture and are used extensively in many products. But some scientists consider that there is a risk of cancer from long term use of Parabens.

In fact there are a lot of chemical (and petrochemical) ingredients in many skin care products that are considered suspect or even dangerous. Thats why there is a big and growing market for natural skin care products.

So there are huge numbers of customers now turning to more natural, or herbal, or botanical or organic skin care products because they see a potential risk in the use of skin care products with chemical ingredients.

So from this information I can make my own definition. I consider a natural skin care product to be one which only uses ingredients that are found naturally somewhere and also which are known to be safe for human use. And there's another part to the definition.

Natural skin care products should work as well or much better than mainstream skin care products. (Thats often not that hard as many mainstream skin care products dont work very well.)

It's surprising but the best natural skin care products often work way better than the mainstream products.

So although there is no one formal definition of what natural means you can still see that there is a meaning for most people. There are good reasons to use natural skin care creams. Very good reasons.

The best are safer to use than mainstream products. The very best are both safer to use and work better than mainstream products.

But there's one brand that stands out as the best natural skin care cream on the market. Visit my website to find out which one.
