According to Ed Zimney, M.D., medical director of HealthTalk, an information source for patients, their caregivers and medical professionals involved with serious diseases and health conditions, Kinoki Detox Foot Pads topped the list of the top five worst health scams in 2008 because of the sheer audacity involved in their shameless marketing and the utter lack of either a scientific basis through which they might work or any medical studies proving that they do. The other four health scams similarly dishonored include Flat Belly Diet (doesn’t work), CT Angiography (no diagnostic utility), Pristiq and Treximet (unnecessary drugs) and Master Cleanse (lost weight is quickly regained after resumption of normal eating patterns). Some wonder if Ionic Foot Detox will soon end up on one of Dr. Zimney’s scam lists, but a January ’09 survey by HEALTHandMED.com seems to contradict that notion.
